A New Opportunity for Capital: Selling Tax Credits
Early stage companies always welcome new ideas for acquiring cash. Pennsylvania has new laws that allow them to sell R&D tax credits and KIZ tax credits to mature companies looking to reduce their tax burden. Sellers get an infusion of capital, buyers get a tax shelter and the Commonwealth energizes economic development.
Joel Cardis has developed programs to enable early stage companies to monetize the statute and convert their costs to cash.
Two new laws have introduced innovative opportunities for early stage companies working in Pennsylvania to acquire cash. The first one allows companies to qualify research and development expenses for tax credits, then sell the credits to companies seeking to reduce certain Pennsylvania tax liabilities. The second statute allows KIZ companies to obtain tax credits also, except KIZ credits are based on gross revenues rather than R&D expenses.
Joel Cardis can help companies realize the opportunity to obtain capital created by these statutes. We help identify and qualify the appropriate transactions, prepare and process the applications, obtain and market the credits, identify purchasers and manage the sale process so as to maximize recovery for the selling companies. All the seller has to do is provide some information and wait for the check
